Paper Trip to Paris!

The opportunity to visit Paris has not crossed my path. Yet. I have been fortunate to have visited other places — Japan, Singapore, England and Australia, to name a few. I hope to travel to more places in the future, but for now I will stay near my zip code.

I have visited the sale aisles of several craft stores in my area though! On one such visit, I came across a selection of craft paper books that normally sell for $20 that were on special for only $5. Well, every crafty person knows you can’t pass on a deal like that! Especially when they have several selections of themed craft paper books!

These papers were purchased a few years ago and I have used many of them. Today I would like to share some handcrafted cards I designed using the Paris collection of “My Favorite Things.”

Several papers in this collection have larger images on them that can be used for scrapbook pages. Since I need smaller images on my cards, I cut out portions of these images. I also use them as backgrounds on my cards.

It feels good to use older papers that have been in my paper stash. When I see new papers I always want to get them, but then remember that I already have so many. A true case of ‘too many papers, not enough time to use them!’

Since these papers are probably out of stock, I will only be able to create one or two of these. If you know someone who loves all things ‘Paris’, I would like to create a card for them! Contact me at horsemarkcards@gmail.com for more information.

Funny Birthday Cards!

Many people enjoy receiving a birthday card that makes them laugh! Especially birthday people who have celebrated many, many birthdays!

No matter what kind of a birthday card you choose to give, it is extra nice to present a real card! They can look at it later, display it, and remember their celebration. Plus, they will appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Here are two funny birthdays cards I created that will result in a smile, maybe even a chuckle or two!

Scratch off birthday card, funny cards, funny words, cards for baby boomers, designed by HorseMark Cards

I used the stamp set from ‘Inky Antics‘ to create this funny birthday card. When you scratch off the circles, the words ‘liver spots’, “wrinkles”, and “adult diapers” are revealed. There are many other words included in this set, and you can even create you own!

There are many embossing folders on the craft market. I chose one that looks like a quilt to create this next card. I used the top portion of an “Art Impressions” stamp of an old woman and tucked her in bed. My customer really liked this card!

If you know someone who will be celebrating a birthday, I would love to create a funny card for them! Each card is only $3.50US and you will have it in a couple of days!

Moving On with the Move!

Hello!

Remember me? I know many of you do, since you have been visiting my blog even though I have neglected it for the past few months. I thank you for that!

Since September, life in the HorseMark Cards world has been very hectic. Between nursing a bum knee, celebrating birthdays and holidays, bringing in the New Year, and something else. Oh yea! We moved from our home we had for almost 20 years into a single level home about 17 miles away. No matter how many or few miles you move, the packing and unpacking process is a big one!

It is amazing how much you can accumulate over the years. We raised our two sons in our old home and since they both live in San Francisco, they have limited storage space. Guess where some of their stuff is! Sorting through things to decide what to keep or donate took an incredible amount of time.
But, I am happy to report that the process is about complete!

Once again, I am fortunate to have my own creative space to design my cards. It is the last room in our new home that has been unpacked. The time it takes to organize my supplies is another process altogether! Like many of you fellow crafters, I will probably rearrange things several times before deciding what works best. Then I will change it! Sound familiar to you?

Anyway, I just wanted to update you on why I have been in silent mode. I hope to be back in the blogging world soon! I have posted a few items on my Instagram if you want to follow me there! I also share creative ideas on my facebook page. Come on by for a visit!

Enjoy your creative day and I will see you soon!

Thanks! ~~~ Vickie ~~~

Craft Room & Boxes!

Hello Readers!

I have been absent in posting in the past several weeks, with the holidays and various other personal events taking up a great deal of my time. It’s all positive though!

We have lived in our current home for almost twenty years and raised two wonderful sons there. It is finally time to move into another house and make it our home. We may be leaving the old homestead, but we are certainly taking all of our memories with us!

I am so fortunate to have a room all my own to create my HorseMark Cards, sew, and create other projects. The only negative thing is packing it up! I have so much stuff! Does anyone else have that problem?

Luckily, I will also have my own creative room in our new home, but of course it will take some time to get it all organized! So, I will still be absent in my postings for a bit longer, but am looking forward to getting back into my blogging world!

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Enjoy your creative days!
