Vintage Craft Supplies!

Hello blogging friends!

Once again, my blogging posts had been put at the bottom of my ‘to do’ list since the holiday season took my time in other directions. But I am back and want to share this short story with you.

I have several items that my two sons had when they were younger. These stencils were theirs and, if I remember correctly, were included in one of their McDonald’s Happy Meals in the 1990’s.

When I was creating a New Year’s card, I needed smaller numbers to match the snowman on this card.

These number stencils were the perfect size! Now these ’vintage’ stencils are in my crafting stash! Thanks McDonald’s!

What is the oldest item in your craft space that you have used recently? I’m sure I am not the only person that hangs on to things from their children’s past!

Enjoy your crafting day and thank you for visiting my blog!

Scarecrow Season!

When I stamp this scarecrow on a card and then dress him in layered papers, he comes alive and makes me smile! He can be a simple note card or a thank you card. I can imagine him holding balloons to celebrate a birthday!

Something Special in the Mailbox!

Taking my key and opening my home mailbox in December was a nice experience. I quickly sifted through the flyers and unsolicited advertisement letters to find the special envelopes. Most of them had handwritten addresses and some were labeled with our address neatly typed. What was tucked inside was most important—a Christmas card from members of our family and special friends.
December mail is the best!

I enjoy December for a variety of reasons. December birthdays! Our youngest son, my brother, our niece, our nephew (born on my birthday, several years later!), and a few friends all got to celebrate with birthday cake. Of course, December also brings Christmas, which is a wonderful time we share with our family and friends.

Now that the Christmas card rush is over, I return to my mailbox, as many of us do, to find advertisement flyers, unsolicited notices from companies wanting my business, and perhaps an invoice inside an envelope. This is also the time when the credit card statements come, reminding many that the holiday gifts and expenses still need to be paid. Now, going to the mailbox is not as exciting, and can even be depressing for some.

However, as the New Year begins, we need to remember our family, friends, customers and clients on a continued basis. A thank you card is certainly appropriate and should be given if you have received a gift over the holidays. Thanking the host for a wonderful dinner or party you attended will show them how much you appreciated their efforts and generosity.

Sending a birthday card to acknowledge someone’s special day is always appreciated. Many of us may not exchange gifts, but giving a card to someone to let them know you are thinking of them is in many ways better than giving a gift. They will know you took the extra time to select a card for them and write a personalized message.

Thank You Card Time!

Hello Readers!

When the holidays roll around, gifts are exchanged, parties are held, and special events keep us busy with family and friends. As the year continues, birthday parties and special days, (Mother’s and Father’s Day, Graduations, Weddings and Baby Showers) bring us more gifts and gestures of kindness.

Once the gifts are opened and the parties are over, we need to remember to share our appreciation toward others. Yes, I am referring to sending an actual thank you card!

A verbal thank you should always be given at the time of receiving a gift or a thoughtful gesture from someone. When a person receives an actual thank you note in their home mailbox, they will be so appreciative of your effort. After all, they took the time to purchase, perhaps wrap and deliver your gift. Taking a few minutes to write them a thank you note will make you feel better too!

Children should also write a thank you note. Perhaps making a drawing or a simple thank you on a card will let them know how important it is to show appreciation to others. When they put the stamp on the envelope, it can give them a sense of accomplishment of sending something important through the mail. It is also a great way for them to develop communication skills.

When we are surrounded with texts, emails, and other electronic forms of communication, we tend to forget the more personal ways of connecting to people. Let’s bring back these more traditional ways of reaching out to one another. They do say history repeats itself! I hope sending actual mail to others will become popular again….we can make it happen!

I truly believe the pendulum will swing the other way, as many of us are looking for more personal ways to communicate with others. Taking a few minutes to call, (not text or email) someone to see how they’re doing, or sending them an actual card or letter can bring everyone closer in their relationships to others.

Everyone loves to receive something special in the mail. When you sift through the flyers and junk mail you receive, it is especially nice to find an envelope from someone you know. You will open that envelope first! Right?

I do hope you and your children send thank you notes to others, and that you receive notes of thanks from your family and friends! It’s the right thing to do!

Enjoy your day and thank you for visiting!

November Pumpkins!

November has arrived! This month is filled with pumpkins, family gatherings, turkeys, beautiful leaves, pumpkin pies, and so much more!

Many of you know how much I love scarecrows! I just had to share this one with you!

My pumpkin collection continues to grow. Three tiny crocheted pumpkins were given to me by someone very special. Aren’t they cute?

Ceramic, pumpkins, fall decorations, pumpkin collections

I’ve had these two ceramic pumpkins for a few years. The fallen horse figurine represents our last name- Horsefall! My husband brought it home from one of his business trips. The horse has fallen because he laughed too much! Typical for our family!

It’s time to take down the Halloween decorations, create some holiday cards, and move forward toward the end of 2017! Wow! Time passes quickly!

Remember to get your holiday cards early! I would love to create them for you!
