Someone Had To Lose!

Elections always seem to bring out interesting conversations.

Two men decided to make a friendly bet on an election result. I received a request from one of these men to create a card to send the winner the money that was bet.

Here is the result.

US elections, republicans, democrats, stars, betting, fun cards,

Another reason I enjoy creating custom cards!

Why Create Handmade Cards?

When you give or receive a greeting card that was created by a person, it shows that special care was involved in selecting the card.

One of the reasons I enjoy creating cards is the ability to personalize both the text and the features of the card.

For example, I recently created a card for a couple who moved into a house near the ocean in San Francisco. The view from their balcony includes house boats and sail boats in the marina. They also have two cats that share their home. The elements I included in the card were: a house, cats, and a sailboat. I doubt you will find a ‘Congratulations on your New Home’ card with these three elements included in the greeting card aisle of your favorite store!

Welcome to new home with sailboat, house and cats

Creating handmade cards is enjoyable for me, but even more so for the simple reason that someone will be receiving a card that was designed just for them. Many people still give cards for special occasions today, and some send cards just to let someone know they are thought of by a friend who cares.

As long as there is someone that needs a card, I will continue to create them. I hope you continue to give cards to the people in your life.

Banana Split!

I was asked to create a going away card for a woman who was leaving her place of employment, for a good reason. There was a personal reason behind using the banana split theme.

Designing this witty and personalized card is another reason why I love creating handmade cards!

Remember to give a card, for any reason, to someone you know! They will appreciate it!

Hello!

Hello!

How many times do we say “hello” in a single day? We may shorten the word to a simple “Hi”, but the meaning is still the same. We are acknowledging someone, whether it is through a phone conversation or talking directly face to face with an individual.

There are people in our lives who we don’t see or talk with often, but we still need to remember to say hello to them.

I have an elderly aunt who lives out of state. She cannot hear very well on the phone and doesn’t have a cell phone or a computer. She loves the cards I mail to her and she knows I am thinking of her.

We all know someone in our lives that would love to receive a notecard in their mail. I hope you remember to give them a card to say “Hello”.

I would love to create a card for you! Contact me at horsemarkcards@gmail.com for special requests or information.

Thank You Card Time!

Hello Readers!

When the holidays roll around, gifts are exchanged, parties are held, and special events keep us busy with family and friends. As the year continues, birthday parties and special days, (Mother’s and Father’s Day, Graduations, Weddings and Baby Showers) bring us more gifts and gestures of kindness.

Once the gifts are opened and the parties are over, we need to remember to share our appreciation toward others. Yes, I am referring to sending an actual thank you card!

A verbal thank you should always be given at the time of receiving a gift or a thoughtful gesture from someone. When a person receives an actual thank you note in their home mailbox, they will be so appreciative of your effort. After all, they took the time to purchase, perhaps wrap and deliver your gift. Taking a few minutes to write them a thank you note will make you feel better too!

Children should also write a thank you note. Perhaps making a drawing or a simple thank you on a card will let them know how important it is to show appreciation to others. When they put the stamp on the envelope, it can give them a sense of accomplishment of sending something important through the mail. It is also a great way for them to develop communication skills.

When we are surrounded with texts, emails, and other electronic forms of communication, we tend to forget the more personal ways of connecting to people. Let’s bring back these more traditional ways of reaching out to one another. They do say history repeats itself! I hope sending actual mail to others will become popular again….we can make it happen!

I truly believe the pendulum will swing the other way, as many of us are looking for more personal ways to communicate with others. Taking a few minutes to call, (not text or email) someone to see how they’re doing, or sending them an actual card or letter can bring everyone closer in their relationships to others.

Everyone loves to receive something special in the mail. When you sift through the flyers and junk mail you receive, it is especially nice to find an envelope from someone you know. You will open that envelope first! Right?

I do hope you and your children send thank you notes to others, and that you receive notes of thanks from your family and friends! It’s the right thing to do!

Enjoy your day and thank you for visiting!
